The Megapixels Reality

Digital camera manufacturers are fighting, who have a range of digital cameras with the highest number of megapixels. Every few months a new model is introduced with more megapixels and the manufacturers would like your old digital camera for the newest and best wines. Before you do, you should read this article.

The number of megapixels is only one parameter in determining the quality of a digital camera. More megapixels is not necessarily better. Before the check-outthe number of megapixels, or any other digital camera function, you should take a moment to determine projected use of the camera. If you intend to extensions, see more megapixels to print. If you need to take high zoom pictures, and parts of harvesting photo that you need more megapixels to. If you intend to only look at your photos on your screen and print some 4x6 prints as 2 mega-pixel is more than enough. A full-screen image on a computer screen with a joint resolution1024X768 less than 1 megapixel. A good 4X6 photo print should have a DPI of 300, which translates only about 2 megapixels.

Europe for digital photo prints, you should megapixel extensions that would be in an edition of about 300 DPI results to be calculated. Below is a table for different print sizes and megapixels required for such print quality:

In general, more megapixel digital cameras are more expensive. Since you probably do not buy an infinite budget for your digital camera if you have a trade-off between megapixels and other functions. The result was more megapixels does not mean that some other features that may be of more importance. For example, it is better to spend money on more megapixels and better lenses? Is it better to spend money for more mega pixels, or on an external flash for shooting in low light? When buying a camera, try to predict, what and how you will use them. A lower megapixel digital camera with a better lens can cause in a much better digital photos. Shop around and make sure you get the best package, both in terms of megapixels and other functions.

The light sensitivity is also influenced by the number of megapixels. Since in most cases, the sensor size is determined more megapixels is achieved by smaller pixels. Smaller pixels are less light sensitive. For most purposesSensitivity to light, this difference is not noticeable. They should consider the number of megapixels, and sensitivity to light if you plan to take many digital pictures in marginal lighting conditions, or want to be able to take digital photos without a flash light in dark scenes.

Finally, it is not the victim of the number of megapixels. Although it is a good thing, a high number of pixels, there are other considerations that determine the quality of digital images. They shouldConsider the entire digital camera features: megapixel, lens, battery life, light sensitivity, sensors, external flash, and many other features. Make sure that you examine the whole package and not the number of megapixels as the "quality" indicator for your purchase.
