Nikon Vs Canon in a Changing DSLR Marketplace

Nikon is in a very competitive market, so that has to do other manufacturers a direct impact on Nikon's product direction. Twenty years ago, followed, established in the possession of the Nikon professional 35mm photography, and then AF came, thanks to digital. Canon has traditionally been the number 2 business. However, with autofocus, Canon procedures performed, since both companies updated their product lines with new technology. Then came digital photography, Canon took the opportunity and through innovation andMarketing aggressive than Nikon, they took the number one. They became the camera of choice for most professionals, the early 21st Century. Nikon responds hard in late 2007 with the launch of the D3 and D300 - who are precisely the Olympic Games in Beijing, that about half of the professional witnesses were shooting Nikon, Canon and the rest. Four years ago in Athens, Nikon's were few and far between.

Now it's the second half of 2008, and Canon is shooting back over Nikon's bow.

The new CanonEOS 50D comes in a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Nikon D300 and D300 but the beats in the megapixel race (15.1MP vs 12.3mp) and thereby claimed a higher maximum ISO (12800 vs 6400). The D300 on the paper seems a better AF and faster frame rates are, but someone new publications on the market will look long and hard on cheaper, higher resolution, higher ISO Canon.

A few weeks later, another shot fired with the full-frame Canon EOS 5D Mark II also priced a few hundred dollarsless than the Nikon, it is aimed at - the D700. It offers in comparison to the 21.1 MP Nikon 12.1 MP, while the corresponding maximum of 25,600. Again, the D700 has a faster frame rate, etc., but from a marketing perspective, Canon now has a very strong platform to go after the serious amateur photographer / prosumer, especially if they are not shooters.

However, it will be better. At the end of August, the Nikon D90 - the first DSLR announced camera with video capture, sporting a full 720p. The ability to use SLRLenses for video capture and a very shallow depth of field is significant - it is not a function for everyone, but for some is huge, and it could save tens of thousands of dollars available for video devices. Less than 3 weeks later that Canon Nikon's thunder once again with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II sports a full 1080p video capture mode in a prosumer camera (compared to the more basic model Nikon D90). Of course, Canon video is too serious and seems to have the superior system.

Thenthere is the 24.6-megapixel Sony that shipping will begin in a few weeks.

So far Nikon has once again push the megapixel race, trying to sound, not to slow down, workflow and a higher megapixel not needed. Higher megapixels also show problems with the lenses cause diffraction issues and the introduction of a whole new set of problems. Very few people really need more than 12 megapixels, but the average user or a beginner does not know. You can hear theMarketing people, and comparison of bullet points on web sites between the cameras to make their decisions. From a marketing perspective, Canon now has the upper hand in the serious amateur / semi-pro market. Nikon has to educate respond - either with a series of new products or with an aggressive marketing campaign for consumers, why play megapixels does not matter. As it seems, is almost always by numerous companies from diverse sectors, the introduction of new products to meet demandalways cheaper to retrain and / or more profitable than trying to consumers.

These are exciting times in the DSLR world, Canon has a year to respond to the Nikon D300 and several months to respond to the Nikon D700. A response from Nikon will come, maybe not this year, but come it must.

Canon, Nikon & Sony Prosumer Full-Frame DSLR's

Introduction:

The full-frame digital SLR camera market heats up - by the end of the year three major suppliers, Nikon, Canon and Sony, all the prosumer full frame DSLR's on the market, all at a similar price.

The 12.1-megapixel Nikon D700, based on proven technology from both the Nikon D3 and D300, which was announced in July, and is already available. With an original MSRP of $ 2,999.95, only 3 months of its notificationStreet prices are already down around the $ 2,750 mark.

Rumored for months, the 24.6 megapixel Sony Alpha A900 was finally officially on 9 Announced September with a MSRP of $ 2,999.95 and should be shipping within the next few weeks.

A few days later, Canon announced the 21.1MP Canon EOS 5D Mark II offers a very comprehensive feature set, and the addition of 1080p HD video, while undercutting both the Nikon and Sony, with its € 2699.99 RRP. TheCamera should ship by the end of the year.

Three very different cameras, all of which are on a very similar price point, an interesting choice for the consumer or Professional with up to 3,000 U.S. dollars on a prosumer DSLR spend.

Nikon D700:

The Nikon D700 is the excellent years old sensor from the Nikon D3 in a body similar to the Nikon D300. With the optional MB-D10 battery pack (which also fits the Nikon D300), the D700 can reach an impressive 8 tofps, while the recording is filled by 14-bit files, at least until the buffer.

High ISO performance on the D700 is excellent, like the Nikon D3. The Nikon D700 is also proved autofocus and exposure metering. However, it is the lowest resolution camera in the group, only 12 megapixels, and it has a lot of potential buyers will turn.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II:

The 21.1MP sensor has a resolution similar to the flagship Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III, but it has amuch wider ISO range. In fact, exceeds the ISO range, the Nikon D3 and D700 at ISO 50-25,600 (vs. ISO 100-25,600) for the Nikon.

The sensor in the 5D Mark II is a year younger than the sensor in the D700, and if in poor light conditions, the ability to come even in the Nikon D700, then Canon has a very impressive camera in his hands with a much higher resolution than the Nikon too close. There are very few sample images floating round of the Canon, so it is too early to be sure, but the Canonhas a lot of potential - we will soon see how much difference another year makes the sensor development.

The big news of the Canon is the 1080p HD video mode. For many, this feature is a gimmick at best, but for some this is a very powerful tool - the ability to a wide range of high-quality lenses, use and control of the depth of field, that just does not exist on the consumer video cameras today. This will be a major selling point for some, and a nice to have formany.

Sony Alpha A900:

The Sony has the highest resolution of the three cameras, but falls into two broad categories: The ISO performance is much smaller than its main rivals, and it offers only 12-bit A / D conversion. For the vast majority of shooters, which is 12-bit A / D not much, if any real world difference. The problem is one of perception, a $ 3,000 full-frame DSLR is almost expected that 14-bit A / D conversion have in today'sMarket.

Comparing the cameras:

You drive in your new luxury car, and asks the first question, your neighbor, "How much HP has this thing have?" With cameras, it's megapixels - right or wrong, which is the main selling point for the average consumer, with ISO function is a very close seconds.

In reality, only need very few photographers for more than 12 megapixels. If you are publishing on the Web in general 3 megapixels more than adequate - my1920 x 1200 wide monitor is about 2.3 megapixels. A 1080p HD TV is less than 2.1 megapixels.

Most high-quality prints with 300 dpi print (dots per inch), 150 dpi print yet still very good. At 300dpi, requires an 8x10 photo just over 7 megapixels. A 16x20 print at 150 dpi requires 7.2 megapixels. How many people go to buy these cameras to print beyond?

The main advantage of more megapixels is the ability to harvest. This is especially useful for nature,Animal and sports photographers, it reached as much as possible. What's important to them pixel density - the more "pixels on target" you can get with your longest lens, the more you can reach the harvest and the more effective you are. However none of these cameras will have the highest pixel density out there - if you reach, you would be better served with a Nikon D300 or the new Canon 50D. In order to receive the same pixel density as the Canon 50D in a full-frame sensor, must be a full-frame camera withnearly 40 megapixels.

Whether you like it or not, the attribute of the camera that makes the headlines megapixel number. From a marketing perspective, that is the Nikon D700 at a major disadvantage for the Canon 5D Mark II. On paper, Canon also wins in the ISO race, but only just. Until the camera is somewhere out there on the market, we will not know for sure how well the low ISO performance is. The Canon also has 1080p video, in which he said will remain a key selling pointfor some, and irrelevant to others.

Where the Canon beats the Nikon is everywhere else that matters: It has a higher maximum frame rate (especially if you add the MB-D10 grip to get 8fps which) more than doubled in the canons, and has on paper a superior AF system and metering system. In the same way, with more horsepower is pointless if the car is not that the power claimed on the road, you (think transmission, chassis, tires, traction control), the Nikon D700 is still avery compelling package, especially for those who shoot sports or action.

The Sony A900 will win the megapixel race, but the Canon is very close behind him. However, it loses badly, when you factor in the ISO performance. Canon also has a much wider range of very high quality lenses to back up the camera, and offers 14-bit A / D conversion verses 12-bit on the Sony for those ultimate image quality. It also has video support, and is about 10% cheaper, so that effectively makes the Canon SonyA900, a non-starter for most people.

Then it comes back to the Nikon versus Canon. Both companies have a wide range of professional quality lenses and accessories to secure the camera. The Nikon is the clear choice for sports shooters. The landscape or studio photographer will incline to offer the higher resolution of Canon. If the ISO performance proves to be similar for both the Nikon D700 and Canon 5D Mark II, then for the wedding photographer and photojournalist thatneed in low-light capabilities, the Canon, there are extra resolution on the edges. Unless, that is, they explicitly do not want to have to deal with larger image files (requires more space on memory cards to load more, for a lengthy post-processing etc).

For all other to meet either the Nikon or Canon, or rather on their needs, but Canon has the marketing advantage with the headline number. If you have spent a lot of time trying to shoot in public, then you know someonewill come to you at some point and say, "Nice camera, how many megapixels is that thing have?"

The Best SLR Digital Cameras For Under $1000

So you've decided to make the brave leap into the realm of digital SLR photography. You are probably one of the thousands of fans of digital photography, which have been used for simple point-and-shoot cameras for a year. One of the reasons why people are so reluctant to move into the world of digital SLR photography, is an aversion to spending a lot of money for a camera. Well, if that is the case with you then you should be pleasantly surprised that you do not spend too muchTo get money for a good digital SLR camera in those days.

As with all things have digital, digital cameras, quickly fell in price in recent years. This basically means that you can get a camera today with SLR technology is probably as cheap as you paid for it for simple point-and-shoot digital a few years ago. One of the first digital camera I bought, I will, again, every five or six years ago was nothing more than a simple point-and-shoot Canon, but ended upcost me close to $ 1000. When I see what I received today is for a thousand dollars in the digital SLR cameras can, it's ridiculous.

Two of the better brands at a glance if you have a digital SLR camera to consider would be Canon and Nikon. The Canon Digital Rebel line of cameras is one of the most popular for entry-level SLR enthusiasts in recent years. It began with the XT, then the XTi, the XSI, the XS, followed and now the T1i. These cameras can usually were for between600 and $ 1100

Nikon also makes a few good SLR cameras. If you are in the sub-subsistence price range $ 100, and the D40 and D60 from Nikon cameras would be a good look.

#1 Digital Camera Repair Problem - Broken LCD Screen

Here is some information about what I believe is the No. 1 issue Camera Repair: broken LCD screens.

We live in a throwaway society, it's just a fact. You buy a new digital camera with pleasure all the trimmings for $ 400, and in 6 months to 1 years it might be worth a half, and then the unthinkable happened: They dropped it and it breaks. The LCD is cracked, or the lens is blocked, what do you do? They head back into the business with the poor little camera and the guybehind the counter (ie nothing about cameras, except for what is written on the packaging, and even less about the camera repair) tells you it is not worth to fix it and you should throw it into the trash to white. They feel angry and ripped raise the camera manufacturer and run it and a new purchase made by someone else.

There are alternatives, there are always alternatives to any problem. Honest! Yes, it costs $ 100 to fix your camera, and yes, you can buy this camera in the bubble packthe shelf W ** l M ** t (they do not pay my bills ... I do not advertise their name, sorry) for less than $ 100, but what kind of quality you expect honesty from a $ 100 camera? Not very good quality, I hope, because you're not going to get it.

# 1 - Broken / LCD screen cracked.

It was hard for me jammed between the lens and a broken LCD screen, but I stuck with LCD for # 1 vote, because it's so easy to break your LCD, you do not even touch, to do the camera!

The LCD --(Liquid Crystal Display) is of the view screen on the back of the camera, you can see, menus, pictures, playback, etc. The LCD is very thin, very fragile, and many many cameras completely unprotected! Look at the back of the camera is lowered, the screen something or is the back of the camera flat and smooth? Unless the apartment you will have a protective "window" or "glass" on the LCD to prevent damage and breakage. If it is not flat, you have to put anything to protect your LCD and should be goodQuality LCD screen protector on the camera and not the thin, flimsy "plastic wrap" plastic film screen protectors, they are worthless.

- Do not leave your camera in your car in winter or summer. Extreme heat can be expansion of the liquid in the LCD cause and lead to crack "and on the other side of things, extreme cold can lead to freeze!

- Do not place anything against the LCD in your camera bag, it is against the LCD to crack and pop (yes, even if a window over them, will break it!)

- Do not place your camera in your back pocket and then sit down!

- Do not place your camera in a breast pocket, and then roll on it.

- ... Do not do with your camera fell into the pocket. =)

OK, so that it works, what are you doing now?

- The manufacturer will be damaged only impact site, and the repair even if the camera is not dropped, etc. You can try to deny, and I wish you luck, but it is not likely to resolve.

- Look for a defectiveCamera on e ** y (hey, they do not pay me to advertise for them ...) and make a good camera from the two, if you are at your fingertips.

- Make sure that an actual camera repair business and not someone that is sent to the manufacturer and will tell you it's $ 200 repair and 4-6 weeks. (If they guarantee to tell you, they can not repair your camera for you, they are forwarding them to the manufacturer)

Many LCD screens are very easy to install and you can do yourself and all you need is a littleScrewdriver. Other LCD's are very difficult to install and even experts do not like them! I can not tell you .... fire is the best and fire ... is the worst it's really not so. Certain series of cameras have 1 or 2 models that are hard at work, but the rest of them are fairly straightforward. You have to decide for yourself whether you open your camera and try to repair it themselves or not.

Like an LCD will replace it?

For most Canon digital camera LCDScreens, for example (with them, as the example because they have the largest market share) everything you do is the ribbon cable for the LCD and the backlight to separate (the light through the LCD and allows you to see what's on the screen) and then install the new LCD. Some come with the accompanying background light, others do not. Some backlight must be soldered onto the mainboard of the camera, others did not.

- Make sure contacts are not directly on the flash capacitor! Then you zap ifThey do, and it will hurt. You will probably throw your camera across the room when it happened. (Yes, I did it, I did the repair cameras for 5 years now so ....) We have 'flash capacitor polluters "and every time we open a camera.

I hope this sheds some light on the subject. You did not throw away your camera because the LCD is broken, and you can even fix yourself!

Canon Digital Rebel - Which One to Choose - XSi, T1i or X1i

However, there is a sort of progression in the rebel figures. The first was the Canon Rebel 300D, then came the 350D, 400D, 450D, 1000D, and finally, the 500D. No idea how the camera got in there with the number 1000D. It was not very popular, so perhaps the uneven number has something to do. The most popular of the Canon Rebels, the XSi and the T1i. And both are awesome piece of photographic equipment.

The Rebel series was popular in the past twoGroups of people.

Group 1 - new DSLR buyers say. They, the people who are in motion at a point and shoot camera to their first DSLR camera.

Group 2 - Rebel current owner. It is amazing to see, to buy as many holders of the newest Canon Rebel Rebel release. Sometimes they become a skip, but it is a group of people who are loyal to the Rebel line.

And for good reason. The Canon Rebel was excellent at each release. Canonconsistently its technology standards with each new camera raised, and buyers are very satisfied with their purchases. This goes a long way still being perceived that Canon sells cameras and makes it one of the top two DSLR manufacturers, the other is Nikon.

OK, so what about the Canon Rebel XSi vs. Canon Rebel T1i? As already mentioned, like the two big cameras, which are also those who purchased them. In a comparison of image quality, it would bebe difficult to see for the average person, the differences in the prints of the two cameras side by side. You may even need some coaching to find any at all. Thus, both are almost identical image quality can. The Canon T1i will produce a slightly larger picture, because it has almost 3 MP more capacity than the XSi, but the size of 12-15 megapixels, this is not an issue (unless you are a prude megapixel).

Some other improvements on the Canon Rebel T1i include:

Extended ISO range up to ISO 12800
HD video capability
New 3.0-inch screen, 920K pixels
Creative Auto
Face Detection in Live View
Larger buffers in continuous shooting
Digic 4 style menu design
From these differences, are the ones who could be subject to most, for the first time DSLR buyers:

HD Video feature - if you move from a compact digital camera will be used with video capabilities. But be aware that the camera is not aCamcorder. While he has excellent video recording, there are two things you need to know. First, there is no stereo sound or mic input. Second, the length of the recording is pretty much shorter than for a specific camcorder.
3 "LCD screen with 920K pixels resolution. This is a very big improvement in the ability to see the screen in bright light. XSi The output is only 230K pixels.
Creative car - this set of functions allows the photographer the camera to say whatConditions which he rotates in and what he wants to be the issue. Basically, says that Canon Creative Auto, you can learn to DSLR photography, while still get good photos during the learning process.
Face Detection in Live View - this is a new feature for many DSLRs which is wholly in the common point and shoot cameras. It is an added bonus, if you are used to it.I think that the two cameras, a fantastic fit for everyone, with the exception of the extreme amateur wouldor professional photographers.
Each camera in the Digital Rebel series has been fantastic images their owners. Mine certainly does not. And these two cameras are no different. Both are highly recommended.

Would be given the above information, why not just go get a Canon Rebel T1i? The answer is COST. The Rebel XSi is about $ 150 less than their younger siblings. So, if you think the improvements are enough for you to peel out another $ 150, then the Canon Rebel T1i is the right choice. If thisFunctions can not take it so important to you than the ability, great photos and even change lenses if you change the output, the Canon Rebel XSi is the right choice.

Simple Digital Photography Tips to Take Professional Quality Pictures With Your Digital Camera

As a film photographer, there are many similar techniques for good shots, as there are in using a digital camera. There are also some important differences, such as the delay between when you press the shutter button and when the digital camera takes the photo (unless you have a very expensive DSLR) camera to use. The longer the lag time taken between pressing the button and the image the harder it is to make a great photo. There are a few tips thatcan help you solve this problem.

Set the camera focus in Advance

On most digital cameras can, before the focus of the camera is to press the button halfway down. It will automatically focus on the subject in your frame. You may need a few seconds with your finger to spend up to half way down on the button, but when you finally to the image, the camera will focus not waste valuable second. It will lead to a sharper picture, a much clearer and more impressivePhoto.

Use the camera exposure setting Yourself

Take your time, your camera menu and navigation, and practice taking pictures with various settings will be familiarizing himself with the camera and allow you to manually preset the exposure study at the camera. This is so much better than your camera to reduce exposure as a priority, as it wasted valuable time, and you can miss your shot charge.

There are many other tips for good pictures, butfamiliarize yourself with your camera and read the manual is the best place to start and then just snap. It's one thing you can do everything costs and what you do not like and learn how to delete go a long time.

Digital Camera Reviews - Sony DSC N2, DSC T100 and Canon EOS 400D

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N2

The Sony DSC-N2 is a stylish digital camera with ten megapixels and a three times optical zoom. The function that the DSC-N2 apart from virtually all other digital cameras is the large 3 "touch screen LCD monitor. This reduces the number of buttons and displays that the camera at a bare minimum, and contributes to its look and style to underline.

Another feature that adds the attraction of the camera is the fact it has a manual exposure mode. ThisYou can set the shutter speed and aperture you shoot. This model is likely to be more casual user who wants to praise the superb image quality even at cocktail parties intended. There is some debate as to whether the CPU or "brain" of the DSC better than the DSC-N1, so that the extra megapixels may not be in such a way that the images are more workable. I would recommend trying in the store before you buy.

Rating: 35

Sony DSC-T100
The DSC-T100 fits an amazing combination of high-tech features into super-slim dimensions. It has a high resolution 8.1 MP imaging, a powerful lens with 5x optical zoom and a large 3.0 "Clear Photo LCD Plus screen that lets you snap and share photos easily. This means that in zoom in closer to distant objects with greater clarity than the majority of other brands that fit into a pocket. The optical zoom is the best thing about this camera, and wouldvery useful for pictures, concerts, wildlife photography, or impressive holiday photos. The size makes it very portable and I would recommend this over the DSC-N2.

Canon EOS 400D
The Canon EOS 400D is the newest member of Canon's extensive digital SLR cameras. It is now three years since the first entry, Canon DSLR, the 6-megapixel EOS 300D, the course was set publish the entire budget DSLR boom. AEntry-level camera, the new Canon 400D has a hard act to follow, as it tries to build on the success of the 300D and 350D models. The 400D is closely based on the general design of the 350D, with similar compact proportions, the older model, but it adds some new features to try and remain competitive, which has established itself into a rapidly growing field of photography. This model is for the budget professional, perhaps as a useful backup for the main shooter. That means you canto always bring to Canon for a functional and competent camera, and the styling of the model home with his people no paparazzi's feel-good pocket.
